Thanks very much! Found this site when I read John Bradshaw's great book In Defence of Dogs.
I talk to her all the time. But i don't believe she understands me. She might associate certain tones in my voice when I say walk etc but I don't believe she understands me. Doesn't matter to me, I still chatter away to her regardless
I once read that to stop them jumping on you you must cross your arms across your chest and immediately turn away from them. Say no loudly as you turn. Do that consistently and often and they will get the message

I've had a number of suggestions and they only work with consistency. Midnight won't jump on me. I make her sit before talking to her and IF she jumps on me, I step lightly on one of her back feet and because she can't see me doing it she thinks it hurts her foot when she jumps on me. However because no one else does this she still jumps on everyone. Good luck with stopping the issue.
I'm sorry, but you hurt your dog to stop a behaviour? less
