When my fiance and i decided it was time to get a dog we argued about whether to get a staffy or a bulldog. My fiance won and i found myself venturing from the Gold Coast to Brisbane to look at a english bulldog found in the trading post with alot of reservations. As soon as i laid eyes on this bundle of fun i fell in love. Her quirky personality and energy won me over. A week later i got to take her home and she became an instant hit with the family. Those early nights were spent listening to her snore her head off having wonderful dreams. As she has grown she has proven that she is certainly part of our wacky family. Bella acts like a child in her terrible twos, but i wouldnt have it any other way. If we are home she likes to be able to come and go as she pleases but gets upset if she cant see us. Her all time favourite game is bottle soccer and loves her squeaky toys. If we are sitting on the couch all cuddled up she comes and jumps up on our laps and falls onto her back for tummy scratches. If we stop she grabs our hand and growls a little to let us know she isnt done. When i'm having a bad day or start to cry she is the first one to sit with me licking my tears off my face with a very concerned look on her face. Bella is our baby and brings alot of joy and laughter into our lives. After her baths she runs around the house all crazy and does the same as soon as it comes to around 6pm. Both my parents and my in-laws ring or email me to see how their Grand-daughter (as they call her) is getting on. After having an english bulldog I would never have any other breed of dog. She is quirky and a little insane some days but that fits perfectly with our family. I have never met a dog as smart as her. She knows who she can push around in our household and shows different parts of her personality for both me and my fiance. I love that when i get home from work she is standing at the top of the stairs with a look of love and her whole back end wagging (she has no tail). I'm forever grateful that I went and took a look at her as I really cant remember what my life was like before her, and now, i cant really picture my life without her. She will be a part of my wedding and hopefully my kids lives (when we finally have them), but for now, my snoring slobbering bulldog is all we need to complete our slowly growing family. This is dedicated to my affectionate, quirky, insane bundle of fun Bella, with love. |
