Hi dog lovers and welcome to dogtree. The website is a free match-making service for people who want to pair up their lonely pooches for platonic friendships, playdates, dog sitting, walks or even a run in the local park. I started the website after noticing my own dog, Bear, was becoming depressed during his long days alone. He needed a friend while I was at work but getting a second dog wasn't an option, and doggy daycare was too expensive. Through an ad in the local paper, I found a neighbour who had the same problem with her dog. We started an informal doggy play group twice a week, alternating between our backyards. It worked perfectly and the dogs became best friends - and stopped digging up the garden! Many dogtree members have adopted the 'playdate' concept after meeting on the website. Others have arranged long and short term dog sitting as a free and kinder alternative to boarding kennels. Some have set up walking groups and dog clubs, meeting up at their local park or beach. Then there are those who sign up just to share information, chat online about their dogs and post photos of their beloved canine to show the world! Joining dogtree.com.au is easy. All you need is a dog and an email address and you are on your way. The sign-up process will take a couple of minutes, and we will ask you a few questions about your dog including breed, name, personality and needs. You can then start browsing for dogs living nearby using a postcode search tool, begin making canine friends, and leave private messages for each other.
